- Set aside a few minutes to think about
you for a change. It’s not as self indulgent as it might sound.
When you’re happy doesn’t everyone around you benefit? Ask
yourself a few questions: Are you living the life you want? Are being
true to yourself? Are you giving & getting the most out of life? Do
you want to make some changes?
- Be an optimist. You really can choose
what to think. Look on the bright side, be a half full glass person rather
than a half empty one. It’s all a point of view.
- Start a daily gratitude journal. Write
10 things you appreciate or are thankful for in your life. It really helps
to train the mind to see the good in life and it’s a real antidote
to all the doom and gloom we get in the news every day!
- Do a kindness for someone every day.
It could be contacting a friend or family member every day by phone or
sending them a little card. Have the agreement for a month and stick to
it.
- Do something for yourself for 15-20 minutes
daily: read, listen to music, go for a walk or a run, garden.
- Set yourself some goals. It’s good
to have plans to look forward to. It could be something as simple as setting
aside time to read that good book you were given for Christmas. Maybe
save up for that dream holiday.
- Create an action plan to make your goals
become real. Be specific and set dates by when you’ll achieve your
goals.
- Visualise yourself having achieved your
goal, daydream about it. Focussing on what it is you want draws it towards
you. (I don’t know how I just know it works!)
- Make keeping your word important. It
boosts self esteem and puts you in the driving seat of your life.
- There’s no such thing as failure,
if you view it as feedback! If we learn from our mistakes we can use the
information and try again using a different approach next time.
