A Coach In Training

One of the best things that happened to me this summer was hiring my own coach, Steve Mitten who lives in Canada. He is marketing expert as well as a personal development coach. He has given me lots of advice and ideas on how to grow my practice. On his recommendation I embarked on a training programme with The Coach Training Institute to become a certified coach. It’s a wonderful, experiential training with a holistic approach to clients. It’s full of heart and has already had a profound effect on me personally as well as my coaching.
I have also recently been awarded a Life Coaching Certificate from Newcastle College.

Inspirational People

I wonder if you are as excited as I am when I meet positive, passionate people. You know the kind whose enthusiasm for what they do simply shines out of their very being.

Recently I heard the rags to riches story told by multi millionaire Bill Cullen in an interview for radio 4. His passion and enthusiasm beamed out of the radio. His energy and determination to make a go of his life were evident. He also acknowledged the powerful influence both his mother and grandmother had on him and his attitude to life. These wise influencers were to my mind natural life coaches. They encouraged Bill and his 13 brothers and sisters to be hard working, prioritise their daily tasks and stand in front of the mirror and say ‘I’m terrific’ every day before they left the house. I found Bill Cullen’s account of growing up in a Dublin inner city slum both moving and inspirational.

If you’re looking for a good read over the Christmas break look out for “It’s a Long Way From Penny Apples” by Bill Cullen. (ISBN 0-340-82653-3 Coronet Books £6.99.) I’ve promised myself time during the Christmas holidays to read it. It’s got rave reviews and a foreword by Irish Premier Bertie Ahern. The full version of the quote is ‘You’ve borrowed eighteen million pounds. God bless you, son. That’s a long way from penny apples.’ Mary Darcy to her son Bill Cullen shortly before her death.
